| Delta Nomads LA rock meets Memphis Blues An emerging band on the Memphis music scene, the Delta Nomads are wooing crowds with an eclectic fusion of original acoustic rock. With the driving sound of LA rocker Chris Cooper, the introspective songwriting of lead singer Bill Walsh and a soulful back beat, compliments of Memphis natives percussionist Greg Young and bassist Jeff Rust, the Delta Nomads create a sound that moves your feet and your soul. Bill Walsh Lead singer, rhythm guitar Walsh grew up playing the Atlanta music scene as a solo singer/songwriter until moving to Memphis. In Memphis, he bumped into percussionist Greg Young on Beale Street and formed the duo Walsh & Young. Four years later, the duo joined guitarist Chris Cooper as the Delta Nomads. Walshs songwriting skills bring the best of rock, folk and funk together to create a uniquely Memphis sound. Greg Young Percussion Young honed his percussion skills on Beale Street playing with Beale Street regulars Mississippi Fred Sanders, Wordy Perkins and Ronnie Morris. He joined up with Bill Walsh in 2002 to create the duo Walsh & Young. The duo played the small club circuit in Memphis and Arkansas until forming the Delta Nomads. Chris Cooper Lead & rhythm guitar, back-up vocals Bringing the edgy pulse of LA rock to the acoustic sound of Walsh & Young, Chris Coopers lightning guitar licks and LA sound give the Delta Nomads an acoustic rock sound the likes of Tom Petty. In LA, Cooper played with popular area bands Metal Rose and Pitboss and headlined notorious LA haunts Club Hollywood, The Key Club and Coconut Teaszer. Jeff Rust Bass Memphis born and bred, Rust is the newest member of the Delta Nomads. Rust uses his Memphis roots to dig out a soulful bass sound with a funky jazz accent. A graduate of Bostons Berklee College of Music, Rust possesses talents in music and film production as well. He produced the James Hyter ( Ol Man River fame) CD, Musically Yours and his music has been used in popular TV shows 21 Jump Street, Hunter and Stingray. AND he does a killer imitation of Bill Murray's version of "Staar WaarrrS . . .Nothin' but Staarr Waaaarrrs!" |
